Palo santo oil is steam distilled from the wood of Bursera graveolens. This middle note has a powerful scent that is resinous, sharp, and sweet and contains Limonene, menthofurane, and alpha-terpineol. Palo Santo is often used by Amazonian shamans in sacred plant spirit ceremonies also in retreats the rising smoke of the lit sticks is believed to enter the energy field of ritual participants to clear misfortune, negative thoughts and to chase away evil spirits. Palo santo essential oil is popular in perfumes and aromatherapy, and will blend well with cedarwood, frankincense, lemon balm, or rose.
